2010 Crop Walk

Mark your calendars! CROP Walk 2010 will be held on Sunday, October 10th. Join hundreds of your friends and neighbors, tens of thousands of folks across the country, as we walk to raise funds to combat hunger locally and world-wide. One quarter of the total proceeds of the walk will be shared between the Conference Soup Kitchen and the Ecumenical Food Bank.

CROP WALK

 

Food for Thought –CROP walkers help worldwide and locally:

 

-- 186 million Africans are malnourished, including 35 million children.

 

-- In 2008, the Conference of Churches Soup Kitchen served 36,109 meals, 1,700 meals were served to children.

 

-- Each year, the Allentown Ecumenical Food Bank provides food for over 30,000 of our neighbors.

 

 

Actions Steps:

  • Each participating congregation is asked to identify a recruiter/contact person who will be responsible for advertising the walk and recruiting walkers.
  • Each walker is asked to gather pledges of financial support for each kilometer walked.
  • Please pick up materials in September at First Presbyterian Church, Cedar Crest & Tilghman Streets, or the Conference of Churches office at 534 Chew Street, Allentown.
  • Registration will begin at 1:00 p.m. at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church on Ott Street.
