What is the Role of the Faith Community in Civic Life inthe 21st Century?Rev. Chamberlin

Would Christ run for Congress?  Would Jesus run a non-profit to live his mission in our century?  What should be the intersection of the faith community and civic life?  What is it now?  How can we get from here to there?

We invite you to come stir the pot at the annual Campbell Lectures on Christian Unity with the Rev. Canon Peg Chemberlin on Thursday, March 3, 2:30 to 8:15 pm at DeSales University.  Executive Director of the Minnesota Council of Churches (MCC) for 14 years, Rev. Chemberlin is an ordained Moravian minister with dual standing in the United Church of Christ and bestowed the honor of canon in the Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota.

Known for developing an organizational culture of collaboration and relationship-based programming she has established the MCC as a gateway organization between the faith community and other sectors. Under Rev. Chamberlin’s leadership the Council has reached out to Native American tribal leadership, brought diverse segments of society together to eliminating poverty in Minnesota by 2020, and launched the Decade for the Development of Leadership for the Common Good.    She organized a broad group of religious leaders at the State Capital after 9/11 and locally following a major bridge collapse.

With these experiences and many others addressing faith and public life Rev. Chemberlin was elected the 25th President of the National Council of Churches in 2009 and appointed to President Obama’s Advisory Council of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships.
